Show Up for Stripes Day on June 21, 2024!
June 21, 2024 is the seventh annual "Show Your Stripes Day"– an event dedicated to growing global awareness about human-caused climate change, its cascading impacts to our health and our homes, and what we as a society can do to ensure a sustainable future for the people and places we love.
Fueled by carbon pollution, this unprecedented global warming is influencing an increase in both the frequency and severity of extreme weather events, including record-breaking heat waves, severe storms, extensive droughts, and destructive wildfires in the U.S. and across the world.
Climate Warming Stripes powerfully illustrate the rise in average temperature. Each stripe represents one year and the color corresponds to whether the temperature was warmer than (red) or cooler than (blue) the long-term average. Climate Central’s Climate Matters team makes it possible to access stripes graphics for nearly 200 cities, 49 states.
